1. Introduction

Frontiers in Medical and Clinical Sciences (FMCS) is committed to promoting the wide dissemination of biomedical and clinical knowledge while protecting the intellectual property rights of authors. The journal follows a Gold Open Access publishing model and applies the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License to all published articles, enabling the responsible sharing, distribution, and reuse of scholarly research across basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, translational research, and healthcare practices.

This policy outlines copyright ownership, author rights, publishing rights granted to the journal, and the conditions under which published content may be reused, distributed, or reproduced.

2. Copyright Ownership

Authors publishing in Frontiers in Medical and Clinical Sciences (FMCS) retain full, unrestricted copyright to their scholarly work. Copyright remains entirely with the author(s) after publication, and the journal does not require the transfer or assignment of copyright ownership.

By submitting and publishing their manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The submitted work is completely original and has not been published previously in any language or platform.

  • The manuscript does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, copyright, privacy rights, or personal rights of any third party.

  • Necessary written permissions have been obtained for any copyrighted material, diagnostic figures, clinical datasets, or patient survey instruments included in the manuscript.

3. Author Rights

Authors retain extensive, unrestricted rights over their published work and may, at any time without seeking permission from the publisher:

  • Share the published article through personal, departmental, or institutional websites.

  • Deposit the published version in institutional repositories, subject-specific databases, or medical digital archives.

  • Share the article through academic networking platforms (e.g., ORCID, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Google Scholar).

  • Reuse figures, tables, clinical data, and original text content in future scholarly works, medical textbooks, or book chapters with appropriate citation.

  • Distribute the article for educational, clinical training, academic, and professional development purposes.

  • Use the published work in medical theses, dissertations, clinical conference presentations, hospital grand rounds, or medical teaching materials with proper acknowledgment of the original FMCS publication.

4. Publishing Rights Granted to the Journal

By submitting a manuscript for publication, authors grant Frontiers in Medical and Clinical Sciences (FMCS) a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, preserve, and display the accepted work in digital, electronic, and print formats.

This non-exclusive publishing license enables the journal to:

  • Edit, format, copyedit, typeset, and layout the accepted manuscript according to medical publication standards.

  • Assign a persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref to the published Version of Record.

  • Index, archive, and disseminate the published article through the journal website, medical databases, search engines, and abstracting services while preserving full author copyright ownership.

5. Creative Commons License (CC BY 4.0)

All articles published in FMCS are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License. This license promotes the widest possible dissemination and reuse of scholarly research while ensuring that authors receive full academic credit for their work.

Under the CC BY 4.0 License, any user may:

  • Share: Copy, distribute, display, and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt: Remix, transform, translate, build upon, and adapt the material for any lawful purpose, including clinical guidelines, educational toolkits, and commercial applications.

Mandatory Conditions: Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s), FMCS must be cited as the original source of publication, a link to the CC BY 4.0 license must be provided, and any modifications, translations, or adaptations made must be clearly indicated.

6. Rights of Readers and Users

Researchers, clinicians, physicians, surgeons, healthcare practitioners, students, and medical librarians are free to access and use published articles without subscription, paywalls, or user registration fees.

Users may:

  • Read, search, and download published articles free of charge.

  • Share articles through educational, clinical, corporate, or research platforms.

  • Reuse diagnostic figures, clinical tables, and text in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 License.

  • Translate or adapt published medical and clinical content with proper academic attribution.

  • Include published articles in institutional repositories, clinical course materials, medical reading lists, or scholarly databases.

7. Permissions and Reuse

No additional permission from the publisher or the authors is required to reuse articles published under the CC BY 4.0 License, provided that the license conditions are strictly respected.

When reusing published material, users must:

  • Acknowledge and properly cite the original author(s).

  • Cite the original publication in Frontiers in Medical and Clinical Sciences (FMCS) with its full article title and active Crossref DOI.

  • Clearly indicate whether any changes, translations, or adaptations were made to the original work.

8. Third-Party Material

Authors are solely responsible for obtaining written permissions from original copyright holders to reproduce any third-party material—including copyrighted medical diagrams, histological images, radiological scans, tables, photographs, or proprietary diagnostic tools—incorporated into their manuscripts.

11. Article Processing Charges (APC) and Publishing Services

To support high-quality Open Access operations, digital platform maintenance, professional copyediting, layout typesetting, Crossref DOI registration, and long-term digital preservation:

  • Submission and Peer Review: FMCS charges zero fees for manuscript submission or double-blind peer review processing.

  • Article Processing Charges (APC): An Article Processing Charge (APC) applies only after a manuscript has been formally peer-reviewed, recommended by clinical reviewers, and officially accepted for publication by the Editor-in-Chief.

  • Financial Assistance: The journal provides partial or full APC waivers for authors from low-income nations or those demonstrating genuine financial hardship, ensuring financial constraints never impede quality research publication.

12. Long-Term Digital Preservation

The journal is committed to preserving the long-term accessibility, discoverability, and permanent integrity of the scholarly medical record. All published articles are hosted on the journal's digital publishing platform and preserved through digital archiving repositories and metadata networks to ensure continuous, uninterrupted global access.

13. Licensing Statement

Unless otherwise indicated, all articles published in Frontiers in Medical and Clinical Sciences (FMCS) are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.
